Cause when you're a celebrity...

Last week, Henry had his first celebrity sighting...only he was the celebrity!

We joke that Henry's the mascot of the preschool.  He attends 5 days a week, I work here and we go to church here...so pretty much everyone knows him.  Not to mention that he's been coming to preschool since he was just 12 weeks old.  However, I didn't realize the caliber of his celebrity until last week when we were in Target.  We're strolling around, buying diapers and whatnot when I hear this little girl going, "Mommy, mommy, that's Henry!  There's Henry!"  I think the mother was quite perplexed, but as I turned around I immediately recognized the little girl from preschool.  I think she's 3 years old and I don't know her name, but I knew her face.  As we turned around to smile (Henry was riding in the cart), the mom looked at me awkwardly and said, "Is that Henry?"  I told her that it was and that we go to preschool at Haymount.  She still seemed very confused by it all, gave me a faint smile and turned around awkwardly to keep shopping.  I thought it was hilarious.

Apparently, even the "older" girls at preschool know who Henry is.  I hope all the attention doesn't go to his head :)

Maniac

That song, "Maniac," runs through my head every time Henry gets behind one of his walking toys these days.  The week of his birthday he started pushing the toys around, but he was very wobbly and couldn't maneuver very well.  He'd go in a straight line, run into something and then pitch a fit because he couldn't figure out how to turn around.  Well here we are almost a month later and he is now a pro.  I call him my Nascar driver.  Because of the layout of our house, he can do a full lap around our downstairs and he does this nonstop.  I actually have to actually take the toy away and put it out of sight so that he'll rest.  He walks so much that he gets out of breath!  Or he just gets tired and starts tripping and falling, but he still won't stop.  I've been working on getting him to take "water breaks." It's hilarious really.  We'll do a bunch of laps and then I'll say, "Ok, time for a water break!"  He'll get his sippy cup, take a few sips (yes, we're sipping from the sippy cup pretty well now, yay!), then make an "ahhh" noise (so cute), and get back to his walking.  I think he loves the independence.

It won't be long before he's actually walking on his own, but I'm in no real rush.  He's starting standing by himself for a few seconds here and there, but once he realizes that he's not holding onto anything, he gets nervous and sits down.  He hasn't tried to take any real steps yet, but he's a pro at cruising along the coffee table and couch, and I can see him getting braver each day.

I'm took a video of him walking with his toy the other day.  Admittedly, it is a video that is only going to be interesting to family, but I love it so much, especially when he looks back at me and smiles and keeps right on going.

This week he has started to love when you chase him.  He giggles so hard.  It is my favorite sound in the whole world.  Again, I tried to capture it on video, but remember, I am chasing him and trying to film it at the same time.  I don't think I'll be nominated for any Oscars any time soon.

Chatterbox

Our boy likes to talk...constantly.  Of course, he's not saying a whole lot of words just yet, but he sure can babble.  The best is in the mornings when he wakes up and is entertaining himself in his crib.  He rolls around and plays with his paci's and just talks to himself.  It is so sweet to wake up hearing those sounds on his monitor.  Matt and I look at each other all the time and say, "I wish I knew what he was saying!"  He also talks himself to sleep for most of his naps and sometimes at bedtimes.  His talking is not limited only to his crib though.  It really is an all day long thing.

I think sometimes he is actually singing too.  His favorite book right now is an Elmo book that plays "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" when you press a button.  He'll be playing in his room,  notice the book, go over and press the button, then look at me, grin, and start "singing."  It is the sweetest thing.  I wish I could catch it on video, but any time I pull out my phone to try, he gets distracted by the phone and wants to come over and play with it.  Trust me though...it is sweet.

I can only imagine what we're in for when he starts to talk with words!  Both Matt and I were pretty chatty as kids, so we might be getting our due!

Also, Henry got to see his first snow last weekend.  Nothing actually stuck to the ground, but he did enjoy seeing the pretty flakes fall from the sky!
The obligatory "first snow" pic.  Look at all the snow!  (haha)
